Award-winning Liberty Hotels Lykia lambasted by ill visitors
Holiday Claims Bureau have been made aware of late summer holidaymakers staying at Liberty Hotels Lykia in Oludeniz, Turkey claiming that food hygiene standards have slipped and that several holidaymakers fell ill with painful gastric illness during their stay.
The resort is advertised with a 5-star rating by Thomas Cook and was a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award winner in 2018. Unfortunately, recent reviews posted on the site, including contributions from returning visitors, suggest that issues with food preparation have been observed and episodes of sickness allegedly breaking out across different travelling parties.
There are numerous accounts of alleged food poisoning and sickness, with more than one reviewer suggesting there was a noticeable step-up in food hygiene once illness had been reported:
“Half the family was hit by the worst sickness and diarrhoea…after a few days there was people with thermometers checking all the food, and it didn’t look great. I had burgers that were under cooked and just plain revolting. When I approached the hotel again about the issue it was pushed aside once again. We had multiple people tell us they had the same thing with the sickness…”

“After our numerous complaints we notice that cleaning was done to a higher standard, food was being tested, temperatures were being checked and drinks machines were being cleaned (which hadn’t been done at all throughout our two week stay). The food is repetitive and boring, flies are able to get to the food and glasses & cutlery are filthy”
