Bed Bug Infestation at Hotel Beatriz Costa & Spa: Guests Share Disturbing Accounts

Holidaymakers Kelly and Stellon shared their harrowing experiences on TripAdvisor, warning others to steer clear of the hotel and criticising its handling of the situation.

Kelly’s Ordeal

Kelly’s holiday was marred by an unsettling turn of events just two days into her stay. Writing on TripAdvisor, she recounted being told her room needed to be vacated for 48 hours. Concerned, she questioned staff about a possible infestation but was reassured that was not the case.

After returning home, Kelly and her family experienced delayed symptoms of bed bug bites. “Two days after coming home, bites appeared on both of us,” she wrote. Her 13-year-old daughter suffered a severe allergic reaction to the bites and required medical attention at A&E.

Kelly’s concerns have since grown, fearing the pests may have infested her home. “Pest control has assessed our home, and traps have been placed,” she explained. She expressed anger at the hotel’s lack of transparency, stating: “The hotel was fully aware of the bed bugs and never told me.”

Stellon’s Disturbing Account

Another guest, Stellon, echoed Kelly’s sentiments in a scathing TripAdvisor review, describing their stay as a nightmare.

“WORST HOTEL EVER STAYED IN MY LIFE,” Stellon wrote, recounting their discovery of bed bugs in the bed frame. “The bed frame was full of bed bugs,” they stated.

The bites led to severe reactions, requiring emergency medical care. Stellon said they were forced to dispose of most of their belongings to minimise the risk of bringing the infestation home. “We had to throw away most of our items and suitcases,” they explained.

Stellon heavily criticised the hotel’s response: “The room has not been treated or our belongings steamed. This hotel must be closed; it is a public health hazard.” They confirmed the matter had been reported to the authorities and called for media involvement to raise awareness.
