What should have been a relaxing break quickly turned into a distressing ordeal for Mrs Bryan. On 14 September 2022, she reported that an iron in her hotel room exploded while she was using it, causing flames to shoot out and burn her wrist. Recalling the terrifying experience, Mrs Bryan said, “The iron just exploded, and flames came out of it, burning my wrist. I had asked for a replacement before, but nothing was done. It ruined the whole holiday.”

Mrs Bryan’s injuries included painful burns and blisters on her right hand and wrist. According to a medical report, the pain lasted for two weeks, and although the burns healed after two months, the psychological effects remain. Mrs Bryan admitted she still feels anxious using electrical appliances, especially while travelling. “I’ll use them at home, but not on holiday, I won’t go near them anymore. I’m just too nervous now.”
