Cockroach “infestation” and illness claims as gripes continue at Paradise Lago Taurito
A host of recent customer reviews have alleged that poor cleanliness and general disrepair at the Paradise Lago Taurito hotel in Gran Canaria have ruined all-inclusive holidays. Grievances raised on TripAdvisor include claims that cockroaches are prevalent, cleaning systems are inadequate and bathroom fittings in a state of disrepair
The 3-star hotel is popular with British families visiting the Canary Islands but TripAdvisor member Saffron Potter says her ordeal in June left her “Very disappointed”:
“The hotel is infested with cockroaches. I had seen over 5 cockroaches dead in the dining hall, a live maggot on the counter in the dining hall and a live cockroach in my room, which resulted in me my niece, sister and my four month old son getting moved at 12:30am.
When reported to the reception, nothing was going to be done about this and they was not going to move our room and they was (sic) not apologising or surprised about the incident. My four month old son has also got very ill since staying here and even resulted in going to hospital.
The towels and beds were changed twice during our 10 day stay and when asked for them to change it, took two more days for a cleaner to change the bedsheets and they were not clean bedsheets”.

Bathroom sink “collapsed”
Kelly, another June guest says that she was injured when a bathroom sink collapsed and smashed while she was brushing her teeth:
“It sent me flying cutting my back and a week later my elbow is still very swollen and bruised and have spent the day in my local a&e !!
“The lift broke down with me and my daughter in it and was ringing the help bell for half an hour and only help came when I called my partner who was in our room to get help…
We watched a little girl be sick in the canteen and watched staff clean the sick up with a paper napkin, no cloth or sanitizer or anything…”
Earlier issues at hotel
This comes after a Grandmother from Warrington sought legal advice following a bout of suspected food poisoning at the hotel in January 2019. She claims that about 30 people staying on the premises at the same time suffered with gastric illnesses.
In 2017 and 2018, the hotel was the subject of media publicity after accidents involving holidaymakers being injured by shattering glass and a collapsing sofabed.
