Bed Bug Invasion Continues at BLUESEA Puerto Resort, Tenerife

Holiday Claims Bureau are continuing to be instructed by multiple holidaymakers after they suffered a traumatic stay at the BLUESEA Puerto Resort in Tenerife following exposure to bed bugs, a year on from when we were initially instructed by holidaymakers reporting similar experiences of being affected by bed bug bites during their stay.

A year of ongoing bed bug complaints

Many of the holidaymakers wanted to spend the summer relaxing but instead they have ended up in severe pain and stress after the hotel have failed to deal with an ongoing bed bug infestation which has affected the hotel for over a year.

Aaron Coote, aged 42 from Rotherham, was one of many holidaymakers who suffered from the bed bug infestation when he went on a break with his partner, Tanya Hadfield, aged 37, to enjoy the sights of Tenerife. They booked a holiday with On the Beach and stayed at the hotel in February 2024. 

On arrival, he was immediately affected by bed bugs on the first night of his stay when he awoke to them swarming over his sheets, leaving blood marks on the bedding, and leaving his holiday devastated.

Relocation denied

His calls to change accommodation fell on deaf ears, and so he had to endure seven nights of hell as he fought to get moved into a new hotel and seek out medical treatment to ease the pain.

The bites caused marks to appear on his back, shoulders, legs, hands, and neck.  His partner, Tanya was similarly affected by the bed bugs with bites appearing on her arms, back, and legs.  This resulted in severe itchiness and discomfort and prevented the couple from enjoying their holiday.

Aaron remarked, “The whole ordeal was an absolute nightmare, I was still finding new bite marks on my return home and it really has had a negative impact on my physical and mental health”.

There are numerous ongoing complaints online about bed bugs at this hotel but no adequate action has been taken to eliminate the infestation.

One guest commented on TripAdvisor following a stay in July 2024 that the ‘Rooms are disgusting riddled with bed bugs. We had changed 5 rooms and each and every room was riddled with bugs all over beds and crawling up walls, resulting in my child been bitten’.

Holidaymakers are continuing to be sent to this hotel by tour operators with little to no regard as to their own safety or well-being, and  holidaymakers are coming home from holiday with their skin erupted in bite marks suffering from intense itchiness that causes additional stress and ongoing issues on return home.

Many of our clients have reported similar experiences, suffering a significant number of bites which can often lead to long term scarring. The hotel unfortunately do not seem to be taking this seriously and are failing to eradicate the problem’.
