Reports of “lukewarm” food, pests and severe sickness at 5-star TUI Sensatori Aphrodite Hills Hotel
We are assisting a group of illness-stricken holidaymakers and are keen to speak to other recent guests at the TUI Sensatori Atlantica Aphrodite Hills hotel in Cyprus who may have endured a similar ordeal.
Members of our clients’ party are understood to have been hospitalised after onset of fever, sickness and severe diarrhoea while staying at the 5-star resort. It is claimed that the party experienced lukewarm, reheated food dishes with birds and cats congregating around the dining areas.

“Lists of complaints” about hotel
A number of recent guests have posted TripAdvisor reviews taking issue with the standard of the food provided at the 290-room complex, which is one of TUI’s luxury Sensatori package destinations. April traveller Jillian P says that the food and service were “appalling”:
“The food was no where near 5* to be honest at times it was more like 3*, Luke warm, sparse in being topped up & the service especially in the evening was like we were in their way & they were grumpy and very short staffed it seemed. I could go on & on about how disappointing the food was especially the undercooked chicken kebab from the food shack by the pool, even the roaming wild cats turned their noses up at it! …Every person we spoke to & I mean everyone, had lists of complaints about this place.”
Paul N makes further observations on food hygiene and cleanliness standards:
“The restaurant is cluttered, the food serving area dirty and messy and the food mostly cold to warm. There is lots of it, but of poor quality. It appears under staffed and you hardly see anyone cleaning. ”
January visitor Matt K has told of an upsetting experience during his family holiday
“5 hours after arriving and eating from the Buffet, our little 3 year old boy started being violently sick and the next morning was rushed to Hospital where he spent the next 2 days on a drip.”
Advice for affected travellers
Holiday Claims Bureau’s advice for anyone similarly affected at the Aphrodite Hills Hotel, whether you are still in Cyprus or have returned to the UK, is to take the following steps:
- Seek appropriate medical attention
- Report all illness within your party to your tour representative and request a copy report
- Retain evidence of medical treatment and any expenses you’ve incurred as a result of illness (eg receipts, medical notes, travel insurance details)
- If you’ve taken any photographs of issues you saw at the hotel, keep these for future reference
- Stay in contact with anyone else you meet who has been affected by food or hygiene issues
