Reviews say outbreak at Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta persists

Returning visitors continue to post reviews alleging that there is an ongoing Norovirus outbreak at the 5-star Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta All Inclusive Adults Only resort in Mexico.

Holiday Claims Bureau reported on issues with the gastric bug at the resort in October 2018 and January this year.  Months down the line the resort’s TripAdvisor page is punctuated with reviews from unhappy visitors who say their enjoyment has been spoiled by distressing sickness and diarrhoea, stomach pains and fever.

Josh, who visited the hotel complex in March 2019, says that he researched reviews of the resort prior to visiting and was led to believe that the outbreak had been dealt with.  Unfortunately, early in their stay, his wife began to feel unwell:

“My wife fell asleep on night 2 not feeling great, but thinking it was simply a case of heartburn. That was not the case. She woke up the next morning with flu-like symptoms…body aches and chills, nausea, stomach cramping, fever, etc. The only movement she could make was the walk from the bed to the bathroom.

“…as we lounged around the pool, we started to hear from other guests they had gone through the same thing we had . One woman actually took a poll, going from party to party at the pool, to see if they suffered the same issues. Her findings indicated at least 90% of the people polled suffered from the illness.”

Josh goes on to say claim that the Grand Fiesta Americana refuse to acknowledge the recurring problems with Norovirus and says that the resort “…needs to close its doors for the appropriate time required to clean and kill the virus.”

April visitor Daniellinyc says that gastric illness continues to be widespread:

“The place was filthy and contaminated!! 4 out of 9 family members got sick with vomiting and pains!! Everyone else we spoke to staying there had the SAME experience! They need to shut this place down and do SOMETHING!!”
